The call to a mental health therapist is not an easy call for most of us to make. It takes courage, trust and a leap of faith to reach out to someone you don’t know and tell them about your struggles. If you are on this website, you, or someone you love, is in that difficult position and looking for resources to help manage a life event where current tools just aren’t quite enough. I am here to help.
I have honed my approach as a mental health clinician since 1985 when I began working at a non-profit agency with women who were in what seemed to be impossible situations. Over the years this work expanded to include families, couples, groups, schools and individuals, men and women, who were looking for new skills, perspectives, guidance, insight or support to make the changes they sought in their lives.
My approach is to partner with you in clarifying early on the issue that you want to focus on and helping you imagine the solution. My training and approach is as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT). I am also a trauma informed therapist with training and experience as an EMDR practitioner. I also practice and teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Relief (MBSR).
I work with clients who are wanting to get sober or are in sobriety either from drugs, alcohol, and/or co-addictions. This includes clients who are in Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT). To that end, I coordinate your care with your prescribing MD and relevant stakeholders.
I include family members and community organizations that may be of benefit to you to reach your desired goals if that is your choice.
My ultimate aim is to get you feeling better again as soon as possible and engaged in your life.
